Have you ever felt like you were the only person like you in a room, or been scared to ask a question because there was no one like you to provide support? You know how hard it can be to try to get through something when you feel alone or isolated, and how important it is to have guidance from others who come from your community, who look like you, or who share similar life experiences.
That’s why we’re partnering with College Now during March’s Mentor Monday initiative to help recruit #MentorsLikeMe o #MentoresComoYo – mentors who look like, share backgrounds with, and can relate to students in the College Now Mentoring Program. With students coming from communities across Northeast Ohio, representing numerous identify groups and interested in a plethora of academic possibilities, we know we need to recruit mentors from a wide range of areas to give these students the best support possible.
