Sembrando semillas

The Sembrando Semillas program is YLN’s Youth Civic Engagement initiative designed to empower high school youth to become active participants in shaping their communities and driving positive social change.
Introduction to Civic Engagement course: Designed to empower youth to become active participants in shaping their communities and driving positive social change. Youth will explore various forms of civic engagement, voting impact, and social media advocacy as well as engage with local civic leaders. Through this interactive workshop, participants will develop knowledge, skills, and confidence to be effective leaders and advocates in their community.

Advanced Civic Engagement course: Designed for youth who completed the Introduction to Civic Engagement course. Building on foundational concepts, youth will explore historical and contemporary civic movements in the United States and abroad, in the Latine context.
Participants will deepen their understanding of civic engagement by connecting these movements to Cleveland’s political landscape, fostering a localized perspective on advocacy and leadership. Through this course, participants will continue to develop knowledge, skills, and confidence to be effective leaders and advocates in their community.
School pop-ups: A tool for building awareness, engaging youth, and fostering a community of informed individuals as it relates to civic engagement. These pop-ups are relevant and grow in response to youth interests and also serve as YLN recruitment.
Social connections: Designed to provide youth with a space to rest and connect with others. These events will create an inclusive environment where youth can strengthen their social networks.
